The UK needs to build more nuclear power plants and produce more small modular reactors to stop being dependent on Russian gas, said British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
“I think we should look at gas as a transitional fuel… We should also build more nuclear power plants, and we should also build more small modular reactors,” she said during the first pre-election televised debate of candidates for the post of prime minister, responding to the question of rising energy prices.
The broadcast was hosted by Channel 4.
